Home is - Getting Your Cooker On!

I will admit that when I got married

I did not know how to really cook...

but I did register for an apron...

Maybe I thought that would inspire me...

not so much!

BUT, I bet if I would have had a super-cute apron

I would have been rockin'
the Stand Mixer and Food Processor a lot sooner

{they spent 7+ years in the box}!

Since that time, my-oh-my have things changed.

I cook and bake and L-O-V-E it...

And I wear an apron...or make that aprons, all the time.

In fact, I am slowly assembling a mini wardrobe of aprons.

When I put on one of my super-cute, sassy aprons I feel like cooking all day.

I also kind of feel like wearing a dress and heels and having my hair coiffed -

a picture perfect 50's housewife...

but then reality slaps me in the face and I am back in my jeans,

bare feet, and my strategically "messy" hair.

I love what aprons represent {at least to me}...

...a throwback to a simpler time.

...a hospitable welcome.

...a home ready for guests.

...Mom {or Dad} preparing a meal or baking goodies.

...a sense of joy that comes from creating a meal for the family.

...the promise that homemade deliciousness is coming.

...a sense of pride in your home and your homemade accomplishments.

I was talking with my Mom about my new found love of aprons,
she shared with me that she had aprons that
her mother and grandmother wore...how cool is that!
She shot a couple of photos for me...Thanks Mom!

The lavender apron was made and worn by my great grandmother Lastine.
The brown apron was worn daily by my Grandma Nelson.
The red and green apron belongs to my Mom's friend.
It was made by her mother for Christmas.

My aprons inspire me to continue on

the path to domestic bliss!

It My SITS Day and I'll Squeal with Delight If I Want To!

Wooo-whooo! W-E-L-C-O-M-E!
It is my SITS day and I feel fancy!
If only I had a tiara...see I always wanted one...
I wanted to be a pageant queen...of course,
I also wanted to be a cowgirl...
maybe I really wanted to be Dolly Parton?
Maybe Heather and Tiffany at SITS knew it was my birthday
weekend and wanted to give me a a very cool present!
And, oh yeah, check out what I got for my b'day....
a ticket to Bloggy Bootcamp in SF...who's going???

Whatever the case, 504 Main is my home away from home.

Makeup, mochas, and "I Love you Mama"
keep me sane and motivated!
I am a not-so-domestic diva, turned full-on domestic diva
...and I LOVE it...mostly.
{Read more about it here}
I cook, create, and attempt to entertain.
Of course a little bribery...
a steaming hot mocha with homemade
whip cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon,
or a perfectly chilled sparkling wine
and some brie...
usually keep the guests here longer.

Here's a small sampling of what's happening at my place!

** I LOVE to be creative {Monday is usually DIY Day, but don't quote me on that, I have an issue with schedules}. I L-O-V-E all of my creations, but the Birthday Chandelier I made for hubby's big b'day is to-die-for!

** I was a wedding planner in Los Angeles and had a few brushes with reality show {semi} fame, read all about it in How to Make a Beautiful Bride Ugly.

** I cook! BUT I love to bake! Have you tried Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies yet?

**I am forever rethinking my list of must haves.

{sorry, I know that is 4! but I never know when to stop...it is genetic!}

Oh yeah, one...no two...final tidbits
{I promise I'm done!!!...See, I told you I never know when to stop...you were warned!}

I just want to end with a BIG thank you to the The SITS Girls! When I started my blog {OK, I actually have two blogs...anyone engaged or getting hitched?..check out HipWeddings}. I had no idea what I was doing. I was tech savvy enough to manage my way through blogger set up...and even get a fancy background going on {which has been changed numerous times}. Then, I kept seeing this button...

I got up the courage..."OK, I can click on it, the computer won't explode." I did and guess what I found a community of bloggers who made comments {that was still foreign territory for me}. It gave me courage to go forth and comment and I did...and I got followers....and I started to have fun. All leading up to this day...my day as SITS featured blogger.

One green idea

I just L-O-V-E Lucky Star Lane. Not only do they do their own very cool crafts {seriously go check them out}, but they also host Lucky Linky Tuesday. For the month of April - Earth Day is coming - they are going green! Check out their posts on going paperless, hoarding {did they write that for me?}, washing fruits and vegetables, and reusing items.

And they are having a cool green contest, about Jean Crafts...it is all about celebrating Earth Day in a crafty way and repurposing old jeans. I am working on a project! What about you?

I saw this over at The Stylish House, and was completely tickled pink about it. Enchanted Makeovers, founded by Terry Grahl, is a non profit organization. Their mission {as stated on their website} is "to transform shelters for women and children into heartwarming havens, it's the catalyst to help everyone’s dream come true." Are you kidding me...what an unbelievable and amazing organization. I thankfully have never been in such a situation, but at some of my previous jobs, I have met many women and children who have needed a safe haven...and how fantastic would it be if that place could be warm and welcoming too.
