DIY! Fossil Art on Canvas

I last painted or decorated my son's room when we moved into this house almost 6 years ago. Well, I mean, he has a new comforter and we have removed toys...but he has asked when can he fix up his room {I think he means make it a "Big Boy" room).
In my mind I have started the process. I have selected the Mythic Paint colors and Stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils...and am desperately trying to find the time to get it all done before he goes off to college in 9 more years.
So I have decided to start with a couple pieces of art work. Joe loves rocks and fossils and has quite a collection, so this is the basis for our big boy room (I have for now talked him out of lightning bolts).

  3. Hi Holly,

I'm so jealous of all these gorgeous things that you get to try out. You lucky girl, you!

These are AWESOME! I love the raised effect. It works PERFECTLY with these stencils. It makes the back of the trilobite all rubbery!

  4. Very cool. I am totally laughing because my son IS going to college in the Fall and he is clinging to some of his childhood treasures in his room and won't let me change them.

  15. I imagine this is about the size of the cockroaches you used to experience in LA. And I'm sure all the bugs there are this size, which is truly the only reason we aren't moving there instantly. Set me straight (or not). WI is boring me like I cannot even tell you.

  22. My son wants his room redone too. He has some favorites he saw in the Pottery Barn catalog. There will need to be some knock offs because we don't have a Pottery Barn budget.

Good luck with your son's room. I love the stencils.
