An Everyday Breakfast: Start the Day Off Right!

Once upon a time, my favorite part of the day
was sharing breakfast with my son before school.
Then I had another child...
then I started the blog, stayed up too late, and could not drag my behind out of bed early enough to enjoy a relaxed breakfast and get to school on time...
but I really feel like it is time to reconnect over breakfast
when the day is fresh and full of possibilities.
Everyday Breakfast

So now, we are starting a new routine! I have always believed breakfast is an important meal and essential to how my kids behave in school and even how I behave as an adult! Now, my kids LOVE cereal - they are quite happy with a big bowl of cereal. Occasionally on the weekends, holidays, or when we have guests I get crazy with breakfast and make a feast, but for our every day life we have a simple plan...

A combination or cereal, protein, and fruit
ensures when feel and act our best for the day ahead.

Everyday Breakfast

I have to say that this week I lucked out...or should I say, my kids lucked out. At Safeway and their affiliate stores some of my kiddos favorite cereals were an amazing price and part of the Buy 4 Save $4 promotion - just look for the tags in the store and enjoy the savings!!
promotional tags Favorites like Lucky Charms and Frosted Flakes,
as well as staples like Honey Nut Cheerios would be served up for breakfast this week,
which also happens to be National Breakfast Week!
The perfect time to start our new "breakfast together tradition, don't you think?

With a tasty cereal as the base of the meal, I headed over to collect my other items that would help me Save my $4! I found Nature Valley Granola Bars, Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice, Seattle's Best Coffee, Mott's Fruit Snacks, and so many other choices - 35 products in all. I had such a hard time deciding that I actually grabbed quite a few items (lots of cereal!). You can see my shopping trip on Google+

I also picked up some International Delight French Vanilla Creamer, eggs (my son's favorite protein), turkey sausage...and fresh strawberries and blueberries (I know they are not quite in season...but they are so good!) to round out our breakfast.

I have to say I had forgotten how nice it was to sit and stare into the sweet faces of my kids in the morning. It gave us a quick chance to hang out and relax before the day began.

With our favorite cereals being priced so well, I also whipped up a Honey Nut Cheerios Peanut Butter cereal bar for an on the go breakfast (recipe HERE!)
