Gone to (Elmer's) Craft Camp...and You Can Too (GIVEAWAY- CLOSED)

GIVEAWAY CLOSED
I think by now you know I LOVE to craft -
almost any kind of craft will do...
and you know what I love almost as much
(OK even more)
is watching my kids create and lose themselves
in a craft or creative endeavor.
Last week my uber creative friend Heather came to visit
with her daughter (watch out for her world - she is an amazing crafter/artist).
Heather and I know each other from design school -
oh you know there was going to be crafty goodness everywhere.

We decided to go to Craft Camp...
Elmer's Craft Camp
while she was here.
Heather and I brainstormed on a theme and ideas
(so much fun to do with a pal)...
and came up with an "All About Me" theme.
(the beginning of Jules's mixed media piece)

I pulled out my fanatstical crate of Elmer's Craft Camp tools and you could feel the excitement in the air!
Elmer's sent along an adult kit and 5 kids kits for us to create with..
new craft supplies...better than s'mores!
Guess What???
Elmer's has 2 kid kits and one adult kit for one lucky crafter/reader!
You can catch all the details on how to win this for yourself below.
I'll tell you right now, we had about 3 projects planned,
but the kids took so much time and care with
their first project we ran out of time...except Jules,
who also created a mixed media piece - just give her a glue stick
and she will go all day long!

The project we did was a pennant with their names on it.

Elmer's and X-ACTO Supplies
Glue Dots
X-ACTO scissors
Decorative scissors
Painters Markers
Popperz
Tape runner

Additional Supplies
Scrap fabric (we used drop cloth)
Inexpensive scrapbook paper (newspaper or construction paper work too)
1/4" wood dowel (ribbon would work well too)
inexpensive ribbon

See that explosion of craft supplies -
that means we had F-U-N!
The kids started with basic triangle shapes, and then each one totally personalized them using the Painters Markers, Project Popperz, and X-ACTO (decorative) scissors.

First we practiced with the scissors so the kids could see which style they liked the best.

Cut out fabric triangles using the X-ACTO scissors (cut through the drop cloth easy-peasy)
Cut out paper triangles (1" bigger around than the fabric triangles)
using the decorative scissors

The kids wrote their names - one letter on each triangle - using the Painters Markers. Then some decorated the triangles using the markers.

We used the Glue Spots to affix the fabric triangles to the paper triangles (if you set the fabric down further from the top of the paper, it gives you more room to wrap the pennant around the dowels).

Lay out the finished triangles on the dowel for spacing, then grab the tape runner and run a line about 1" from the top of the triangle; wrap this end around the dowel and press edge (with tape) down to the back of the paper triangle.
Then embellish.

Rachel made rosettes.

Jules (with my help) made flowers out of strips of
paper cut with the X-ACTO (decorative) scissors.

Joe left his plain.

We tied a ribbon to each end and ta-da!

Now...You want some of this CRAFT COOLNESS
for your very own
Elmer's Craft Camp!
Here's what you get and How to get it:

Each kid kit includes (win 2):
CraftBond Extra Strength Glue Stick
CraftBond Glue Spots
Project Popperz Markers
Mini Bi-Fold Foam Board

Each adult kit includes (win 1):
CraftBond Gel Pens

  1. My son is into Harry Potter at this moment.. next week, who knows..lol. He likes to draw the characters and hang them around the house. It would be nice to make a banner like you did with all the HP characters for his room.

    Thanks for the fun contest.
