Pumpkin Patch fun by 504 Main

Posts were lacking around here this week.
Can you believe I am still not 100% well. This stinks!
Then my procrastination got the better of me - I had to kick it in high gear for the kids Halloween party! Wish me luck (please)!

You know those things that people tell you to do and you never do.
Perhaps you even think...
"It won't happen to me?"
"I will do it tomorrow."
"Is that really going to help?"

I am pretty well versed in that "tomorrow" philosophy.
But recently an event happened at a party that made me
rethink a few things about home safety, specifically
fire safety.

504 Main by Holly Lefevre: Cars Land

I went to Disneyland last week.
I had a 100+ degree fever. I survived. My whole family survived.
I am amazed.
We actually had a pretty good time and can I just say I love the movie Cars
(NOT Cars 2 - only the original) and Cars Land was enchanting.
(and I am a hard one to please!)
No seriously we spent most of our time there.

I cannot wait to see what you were up to this week.
I designed a "spooky spaces" mantel and created DIY Tree Silhouette Art
(if you head over to that post - you can grab a 50% coupon to Jo-Ann's!)
And
A simple (as in stupid easy) Ghost Garland

I am always looking for easy crafts that my daughter (and on occasion my son)
and I can do together. After making my bunny garland,
I have a new affection for ripping and cutting up simple cardboard boxes. For this
SUPER SIMPLE Not-So-Spooky GHOST GARLAND,
I added some white paint and strung them on twine...and I love them.

I had a challenge - shop (that's not hard) at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores
and create a "Spooky Space."
I never back away from a challenge, but since my house is for sale,
my decorating at home is limited...so I asked my local coffee hangout (AHHH Crema!)
if I could decorate their mantel with some
DIY Tree Silhouette Art & Seasonal Decor.
I was so excited and so inspired.

The air is crisp, the sun is shining...
and I am ready for pumpkin everything?
What do yo love about Fall?

When I get together with my friends, we love to try new projects.
So, when Quirk Books asked if I wanted to review the book
Pom Pom's: 25 Awesomely Fluffy Projects...
and throw a little pom pom party for my friends, you know I said "YES!"
Have a Pom Pom Party with 504 Main

I have loved pom poms forever.
I remember making them when I was a kid.
I remember wearing them on my tennis shoes and in my hair.
Pom Poms are simply fun...you really cannot help but smile!

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.
This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.
I love pumpkin and I regularly shop at Save Mart Supermarket, so this is a perfect match!
 *****
I adore pumpkins.
I love their shape - all crazy and round and perfectly imperfect.
I love their color - shades of orange like a magnificent sunset.
I love their flavor, rich and hearty and so perfect for Fall.

I typically use pumpkin in sweeter items,
(cookies, cakes, bread, pancakes, souffles)
but I was really wanting to try my hand at creating a savory pumpkin dish.

When I head to Save Mart Supermarket (which I do almost daily)
this time of the year, I just love it!
It feels like a field trip to a pumpkin patch.
They have pumpkins everywhere!
Big ones, little ones, and my favorite -  pie pumpkins (sometimes called sugar pumpkins)!

I really try to not talk about "the holidays" this early,
but last year I made homemade vanilla extract and it was a huge hit.
Thing is, you gotta make it now!
Those vanilla beans need to flavor that vodka for weeks and weeks.
So I will break my rule and share this one super easy
and much appreciated DIY Holiday Gift now!

Vanilla Apothecary Label from The Graphics Fairy
I go through Pure Vanilla Extract by the gallons..or so it seems.
I put it in everything...pancake batter, waffle batter, coffee, oatmeal- you name it!
It is a pricey little habit...and I had no idea until about one year ago that you could make it yourself! DREAM ON! This is the best Vanilla Extract EVER (and you can make it for a GREAT price

I gotta tell you...I flip for pumpkin anything!
Carved pumpkins,tattooed pumpkins...
Big pumpkins, small pumpkins...

I also love that pumpkin pie flavor. So much so that in the Fall (and summer, and spring and winter) I often use pumpkin pie spice in my recipes when it calls for cinnamon (and I think the flavor profiles fit).

What I do not like is the price of pumpkin pie spice. I got a teeny tiny bottle of it at the store yesterday...almost $6.00. All of the other spices were on sale...so I had a flash of brilliance (or at least I think so).

Why don't I just make my own?

In fact, I already had all of the spices I needs at home. I use cinnamon a lot and ginger too, but nutmeg and allspice, well I do not use them all that much.

Monarch butterfly skirt by 504 main
Here is the tutorial for the butterfly skirt!

It is one of my favorite weekends and events of the year...
the annual Butterfly Parade.
The kids dress up and parade through town...it even melts my cynical heart!
That's my sweet girl last year - all of the kindergartners are monarch butterflies.
This year...stay tuned...she is a moon jelly!

****************************************************
I am still taking some time off...
I have even learned a few things about myself
(like even without the blog, I stink at time management!)

But hey...its almost the weekend...which means it is time for Tickled Pink x2 with Meegan!

Don't forget...Meegan has great features!

Last weeks guest hostesses Patti from Old Things New also has a few features!
Go check them out!

Thanks Ladies!
