I am a girl who likes to over complicate everything
A very good example of that has been my cleaning supplies.
I used to buy one product for bathrooms, one for the kitchen,
one for floors, one for window, one for sinks...get the picture.
(yes advertisers must have loved me)
simplify and also go green when it comes to my cleaning routine.
I have used Heinz Vinegar for many years for many things,
but now I have discovered Heinz Cleaning Vinegar!
Heinz Cleaning Vinegar is an alternative to harsh
and sometimes expensive chemical cleaners.
I scored a gallon for under $3.00.
From that one gallon I managed to make three different solutions,
clean my drain, and there is still some left.
You can actually cook with this too, as is is made from
sun-ripened grain and water like the #HeinzVinegar we all know,
but in a special strength.
It has 6% acidity compare to 5% for the regular variety.
I headed to Walmart to pick up my #HeinzCleaningVinegar. Even thought is says "cleaning vinegar" it is actually sold in the vinegar aisle, right alongside the regular vinegar. I see the point in the marketing - I do buy gallons of Heinz vinegar for cleaning, so if the cleaning vinegar is right there too, I would be inclined to try it and buy it! I did peek at the cleaning aisle and there was a generic cleaning vinegar in that aisle, so maybe Heinz needs a bit of shelf space in both places.

I picked up some spray bottles, new sponges, baking soda, barmops, and some lemons... along with some other goodies.
Then I headed home to create some cleaning solutions and make my house sparkle!
And the verdict is...
I am making Heinz Cleaning Vinegar a staple at my house.
Here is why I LOVE it and how I tested it out at my house!
I am a huge fan of the natural cleaning it provides.
No more harsh chemicals in my house and around my kids
and it is gentle on my drains and plumbing
and my hands (because I never wear gloves).
Heinz Cleaning Vinegar has absolutely helped me streamline my cleaning.
I am replacing the bottles and bottles of other cleaners.
Now, I only need a gallon (or two) of the Heinz Cleaning Vinegar.
Then by mixing it with other products such as baking soda and borax (which I have on hand for homemade laundry detergent) and the like, I can easily customize my cleaning solutions, including different scents.
And the amount of money I will save will make hubby do a happy dance!
I am fine with using vinegar without any scent, but thought I would test out some different essential oils in the vinegar and water solutions to see how it reacted. I tried a tea tree oil (which I use in so many things at home) and a lemon essential oil. At first I was going to have the lemon peels "marinate" in the solutions, but decided I would get moving and pulled out the oils.
Just mix equal parts Heinz Cleaning Vinegar and water, then add 5-10 drops of lemon essential oil (it depends on the strength of the scent you desire)
I tried out the lemon cleaning solution on my master bathroom sinks. I have never been happy with the streaks and spots left n the fixtures. I just sprayed it on and wiped it off...was IMPRESSED! Fresh out of the box sparkly! And the lemon scent was divine.
Then I went to town on the kids bathroom!
I cleaned the shower, the toilet, the walls, and the floor!
One way I have been using vinegar for years is to clean and disinfect my kitchen sink.
I never measure - oops! - so lets go with 1/4 cup baking soda and 1-2 cups of vinegar. I just place the baking soda into the open drain and pour the vinegar.
Then watch it bubble and fizz. It just sounds clean!
Next I tackled the dirty kitchen sink itself.
How does that sink get so dirty so quickly!?
I sprinkled plain baking soda (about 1/4-1/2 cup) all over the sink. Then I spray straight Heinz Cleaning Vinegar all over the sink and scrub it with a sponge.
SPARKLING CLEAN AND WHITE!
Beat still me heart!
Here are few other ways I use vinegar in my house:
I used straight vinegar (when painting and freshening up our master bathroom) on a sponge to clean the ceiling and walls to remove any mildew (our fan was broken and we already live in a moist ares...ewww). It worked better than I could even have imagined. I was going to use bleach, but thought it would be too much so I did some research and discovered this vinegar trick without the harsh fumes.
Of course to clean the windows!
Moisten a cloth with the vinegar and wipe my base boards!
Run 1/2 cup through the dishwasher- helps to keep your glasses spot-free!
A 1:1 mixture of vinegar and borax in the toilet bowl to get rid of that nasty ring!
And finally the craziest way I have used vinegar...(drumroll)
on a washcloth to soothe my sunburn!
Seriously it works to take the sting out!
Now tell me...
because I know you have some tricks...
What is your tip for cleaning naturally with vinegar!???
